New lights celebrated

On Friday, September 16 the Elora Rocks Lawn Bowling Club held a special evening to celebrate the installation their new upgraded lighting system over the lawn bowling greens. These upgrades were possible thanks to a $102,200 Capital stream grant the Club received from the Government of Ontario’s Community Building Fund to upgrade lighting over the lawn bowling greens. The Community Building Fund is administered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

The project, completed in August 2022 included the removal of old and unsafe utility poles and the installation of new poles and new energy efficient lighting. The electrical panel in the clubhouse was also upgraded.

“With the new lights we can extend safe playing hours with a flip of the switch,” said Ian Burns, president of the club. “The flexibility of being able to bowl after sunset is literally a game changer. We’re excited about the opportunities it will provide.”

New Horizons funds new greenskeeping equipment

Elora Rocks Lawn Bowling Club is pleased to announce that we have received funding under the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program for our project replacement of greenskeeping equipment and purchase of a public address system.

This federal grants and contributions program supports projects that are led or inspired by seniors who are making a difference in the lives of others in their communities.

The funds will be used to purchase a greens mower, de-thatcher, aerator and portable public address system. About Us

Welcome to the Elora Rocks Bowling Club. Since 1906 our members have been enjoying competitive lawn bowling and having great fun doing it. Our wonderful greens and facilities are at 74 David Street East in Elora.

Lawn bowling is a sport that can be enjoyed by all ages. It is a sport that you can start at any age, and it is never too late to take up the game.

We bowl from May to September. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we have league play – players are teamed in pairs for the season, with novices matched to more experienced players. On Mondays and Wednesdays we have jitneys – just turn up and teams are made up at random. We also have "pick-your-own-partner" games on Wednesdays. During the season there are tournaments which are open to any bowler affiliated to the Ontario Lawn Bowls Association.
