Elora Rocks Lawn Bowling Club
Club gets grant to upgrade lighting
The Elora Rocks Lawn Bowling Club is the thankful recipient of a $102,200 capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The funds will be used to upgrade our electrical system and replace the lighting on the bowling greens, allowing for play after sunset and possibly extending the season. A special thank you to our grants committee, Helen Mills and Gary Nelson (with help from Beverlie), who put in a huge amount of effort towards the successful application.
Welcome to the Elora Rocks Bowling Club. Since 1906 our members have been enjoying competitive lawn bowling and having great fun doing it. Our wonderful greens and facilities are at 74 David Street East in Elora.
Lawn bowling is a sport that can be enjoyed by all ages. It is a sport that you can start at any age, and it is never too late to take up the game.
We bowl from May to September. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we have league play – players are teamed in pairs for the season, with novices matched to more experienced players. On Mondays we have jitneys – just turn up and teams are made up at random. On Wednesdays we play 4-3-2-1, a game in which three players face off in a friendly battle for proximity to the “jack”. We also hold a number of tournaments during the season which are open to any bowler affiliated to the Ontario Lawn Bowls Association.
